Inside Out Art Studio
Jeff Semmerling first arrived in New Orleans in 1981 and after becoming immersed in the carnival experience was spellbound by the ability of masks to allow people to express their eagerness to live. In 2002 with Donna Lurie Semmerling, Jeff founded the Inside Out Art Studio to encourage “Fun for Artists of All Ages” and world class culture to be cultivated in the local community. At Inside Out they teach all the arts as essential elements of a healthy culture.

Jackson, Layne
My work is created in series in an on-going investigation of personal ideas following the themes of self-reflection and self-discovery. Early works focused on domestic scenes and roles in family relationships, while more recent work echoes my growing involvement with environmental issues and addresses interaction with the natural world. The works on paper function as studies for larger paintings and mural projects and a desire to create grand scale work in collaborative projects that cross borders. My background in a family that traveled and had international travelers in our home has instilled in me a wanderlust that led me to travel throughout the USA and Mexico, across Canada, to Russia, Western and Eastern Europe, Cuba and Central America, and make one very special visit to Zimbabwe.

Jose, Dennis
Dennis creates contemporary political observations and comments painted in oils. His Orwellian Big-Brother / Chicago Imagist hybrid works are “close cropped” such that the viewer “participates” in the work as a Peeping Tom …or the painting’s figurative subject “projects” as an exhibitionist, or both! He possesses a made in Chicago ethic and esthetic.

Jovanovic, Vesna
I am inspired by the intersection of dualities: the unity of opposites and the ways in which they can be integrated or interchanged. This conundrum propels my work and informs my approach to materials and equipment. Whether it involves randomly spilled ink, a homemade pinhole camera, or a double-walled ceramic vessel, my process usually begins with simple materials and some unlikely combination of chance and exactitude.

Keeley, Kevin
Kevin’s photography falls into four broad categories. The first is landscapes. These are either industrial or travel images. The second is bodyscapes. These are principally female forms. They are very tasteful artistic nudes. His third thread is what he calls his “Iconic Chicago Series”. These are images that are evocative of Chicago in some unique or creative way. Last, but not least, is his “Kitchen Macro” series. These are macro shots of everyday kitchen implements.

Keller, Audrey
Too often, we see the phrase, “out with the old, and in with the new” put into action. Historical buildings are torn down in order to make room for condos; parks are neglected, while parking lots thrive. As the world constantly changes, photographs give us the privilege of seeing our world in a way never before experienced. They allow us the opportunity to see beauty in that which we might have otherwise quickly forgotten. Our collective sense of constantly thinking, “what’s next?” is swiftly silenced when a fleeting moment becomes an entire experience - a discovery. That is what photography is for me; a chance to renew that innate need for discovery. A moment captured by a camera, and preserved for as long as the elements will allow is unlike anything else in this world. The image speaks for itself, and yet each onlooker has his or her own idea of the story being told. It is an intimate experience for each viewer to find meaning in a photograph. That journey, that discovery, is one of the most rare forms of art for anyone to experience.

Kinaloon
Barbara Raidl (Kinaloon) specializes in making interesting hand-made stationery. These cards are hand silk-screened on recycled paper. All designs are shot from original hand-inked art-work. All cards are blank inside; are 4.25 x 5.5”, and come with matching A2 white envelopes. The images on the cards depict natural things (insects, animals, flowers, and people), interpret Christmas songs, and tell stories. With a struggling economy, these are a well-priced, beautiful alternative to the expensive, mass-produced cards you find in most card shops.

Koenig, Julie
As a watercolor artist, my love of nature features prominently in my work; whether it’s the beauty, brilliance, and delicacy of a daffodil or the play of light through the trees, changing the mood and adding mystery to a forest scene. My paintings are primarily a product of my imagination and my art is all about becoming a part of our beautiful world and allowing it’s very essence to enter into the depths of my viewer’s hearts and souls.

Koval Distillery
Koval Inc. is the first boutique distillery located in Chicago. Its founders, Robert and Sonat Birnecker, gave up academic careers to bring the distilling traditions and techniques of Robert’s Austrian grandfather to America. Certified both organic and kosher, Koval holds itself to the highest standards of purity and craftsmanship. Koval avoids the common industry practice of outsourcing the production of neutral grain spirits for rectification, making all of its products from scratch. Each step of the distilling process, from the “mashing” to the bottling is carefully monitored to insure that only the best spirit reaches your lips.

Welcome to the World of Traegonia - a place where mystical things really do happen. Close your eyes, hold out your hand and allow the spirit of the Sunbow Prophecy to draw you into a place you have never been before. Meet a community of unknown beings and mystical creatures of the forest. Watch as three friends work together to bring about change. Put aside the fear of what you do not understand and you just may find something truly special in the gifts that others hold. What they have to share could be the thing to change lives and maybe even the world. “Traegonia the Sunbow Prophecy” features small mystical creatures of the forest that fatefully befriend a young boy. On Saturday 10/2, meet artist Dino Crisanti, who created the sculptures that inspired the novel. Books will be available for purchase and can be signed by both the artist and illustrator.
