From the age of three, when artist Dellamarie Parilli first picked up a paint brush, it was obvious that she was gifted beyond her years. Not only did she excel in painting and drawing, but Parilli’s talents coupled with an obsessive need to both express herself and share her gifts, bled over into all of the arts. A quadruple threat, soon she was dancing, singing, acting and painting. Today, the Chicago based artist, having decided to focus primarily on her painting is recognized as one of the most talented contemporary abstract painters painting today. Her canvases, though uniquely her own, bring to mind Kandinsky, de Kooning, Pollock, Tobey and even early Rothko. As one critic wrote and many continue to echo, “One can’t help but marvel at the depth of Parilli’s painterly vocabulary.

Pedroso Jones Studio is the work space for the artists Armando Pedroso and Darren Jones. Each artist has a unique style and uses a variety of techniques to create a collection of original art work that is full of depth and texture. Pedroso uses a mixture of found metals, roofing tar and plaster while Jones uses a combination of recycled wood and paper fibers along with sand.

My oil paintings are soaked in contemplative emotions and an intense dreamlike reverence for the natural world. I have developed my own surface manipulation techniques that I craft to build rich textures, and create a sense of space that whispers of landscape. I am a certified Reiki practitioner and yoga instructor, and the influences of these two practices contribute to the tranquility in my paintings. According to Eastern philosophy, the painted landscape is spiritually restorative even when actual visits to nature are impossible. In a world where it is becoming increasingly difficult for the urban public to connect with the sacred realm of nature to find psychological comfort, it is my intent that my abstract landscape paintings can act as sanctuaries, reminding the viewer to respect and care for the environment and to observe each marvelous moment.

Flow of unblocked creativity has been my artistic work focus. I moved from from Chicago to California in 1989; and returned recently to the city I love, Chicago, in the Fall of 2008. While in California, I attended various creativity workshops in the San Francisco Bay Area, and southern California’s Escalen and San Diego areas. Being a registered nurse and having focused much of my time on hospice care, my paintings can subtly suggest physiological organic images. Often, the intent of the abstraction is to invoke an emotion from the viewer; i.e. passion, hate, joy, playfulness, melancholy. My work has been displayed in San Francisco, Encinitias, San Diego, and The Galleria Andersonville, and Robert Jeoffry Salons in Chicago.I open my home to private gallery parties by invitation.
