| 2nd Story
2nd Story is a hybrid performance event combining storytelling, wine, and music. A typical 2nd Story evening goes something like this: you hang out with your friends and eat and drink and make merry. Four or five times during the night, the lights go down, a spotlight comes up on somebody—maybe the person sitting next to you!—and they tell you a story. It’s a great time, and our hope is that if we do our job right, you’ll leave telling your own stories. RAW Location: 4043 Ravenswood #224 |

| Aaron Wooten
Aaron Wooten paints whimsy and sarcasm. His characters are overly absurd, bodacious and full of life. Influenced by the Ashcan school of the 1920′s, Jack Levine and Otto Dix, he seeks to emerge life with farce. Like a beer for breakfast. RAW Location: 1802 Berteau 2nd Floor |

| Addie Price
My work reexamines the emotional complexities of human nature and power of memory. Through cropping, recontextualizing and reconfiguring, subtle delicate images create fleeting intimate moments between art and audience. Through distilling otherwise obscure, bizarre and disturbing images, my work seduces the audience with ominous interiors, confrontational portraits and visceral landscapes. By deconstructing traditional notions of portraiture and depictions of the human body, my work forces viewers to question what they see or do not see. RAW Location: 4043 N. Ravenswood |

| Agnieszka Kubiak
I paint because I am aware of the certainty of death. The ephemeral part of life is a vast inspiration to me. My aspiration is to translate a story, an emotion, mood, through gestures and subtleties of human body or through nature with which we have such deep connection and relationship. Naturally, I convey this experience through a woman’s eyes and based on my own exploration. Some of my images were painted in part with a piece of yarn dipped in a glaze and then dropped or laid down more carefully on the canvas. Later on I paint in colors in the spaces between mapped out lines but not necessarily keeping the same color in the particular shape. I started experimenting with this technique to introduce a level of unpredictability and chance in the process of painting. RAW Location: 1802 Berteau 1st Floor |

| Ahavani Mullen
I work primarly with encaustic paints. Encaustic is an ancient medium composed of pure beeswax, pigments and damar resin. The pieces I create have 5-30 layers of encaustic paint. Each layer is applied molten, and then re-fused with heat between each one. I find that painting with encaustic allows me to create work with a tangible luminosity, texture, optical depth, and organic nature which I have never been able to create with other kinds of paint. Painting with encaustic is particularly well suited to the atmospheres I wish to evoke – rich and earthy, ethereal and transparent. My work explores how the earth plane and the higher, inner worlds blend with each other and complete each other. RAW Location: 1800 W. Cornelia #105C |

| Alan Emerson Hicks
My artwork is influenced by our society and magic. My sculptures use plastic discarded objects and American detritus to create objects that comment on what our society finds important. I’m drawn to plastic materials because of its weight and variety of color. Plastic bottle caps and rings become colorful towers that reflect architecture, engineered structures and religious relics. I use plastic clothes hangers to create figures and large geometric shapes. Sometimes I use heat manipulation to alter the shapes of the plastic objects. I want to impart in the viewer a sense of magic and wonder about the world around them. The use of commonplace objects creates that sense. I want the audience to view the plastic materials of their everyday lives anew. RAW Location: 1800 W. Cuyler 1st Floor |

| Alexander von Agoston
“I am an expressive naturalism and representational painter. I love to create large outdoor posters. In the 1980′s, I painted in gray, black and blue tones. In the 1990′s, I added powerful colors like yellow, orange and red with dark blue throughout. My materials are oil on canvas and acrylic on paper. Subjects are portraits and male figures plus landscapes, city views and flowers. My body of work includes 2000 pieces, of which 400 are oil and acrylic and 1600 on paper.” “I majored in art in high school and went right into the German Navy. After my military service, I received a MFA in history and art history at the University of Berlin in 1990. ” Alexander von Agoston was born in Kassel, Germany on November 13, 1962. | Amelia Kieras
My work uses both drawing and photography, combined digitally, to create imagery that explores the relationship between fantasy and reality. I am fascinated with the changeability of memory and perception: everything that we see and think about is filtered through a mind filled with preconceived ideas, fears, fantasies, and stories. Because of that, there is a disconnect between actual events, actual consequences, and the way the memory is recorded. My work, as a combination of recorded data (photography) and generated imagery (drawing) addresses the idea of that constructed memory. I am addressing that disconnect between the story-structured perception and the reality of everyday events. RAW Location: 1802 Berteau 1st Floor |

| Annette Jackson
My art is about color, shapes, and composition. The lampwork beads are radiant, exuberant, and joyful. The juxtaposition of a variety of seemingly unrelated colors and forms create a lively visual play. I use traditional and unusual playful shapes. Each bead is uniquely crafted; each one is a work of art in its own right. These items are then combined into jewelry that enchant the wearer and viewer both. RAW Location: 4611 N. | Ardis Berghoff - Foundry Design
Beauty, originality and kindness to the earth are values I incorporate into all of the women’s clothing I hand make from original designs. These are art pieces a woman can wear, either one-of-a-kind or in very limited runs. They incorporate recycled or found materials such as vintage fabrics, thrift-store finds, ethnic fabrics or designer “deadstock” that normally ends up in landfills. My specialty is creating lush sweaters of contrasting colors, textures and patterns from recycled knits of wool, cashmere, alpaca and other fibers, many of which I hand felt. I also revamp used trench coats, replacing their panels with color-blocked knits or recycled denim to dramatic effect. RAW Location: 4043 N. Ravenswood |

| Aviva Alter
Our bodies hold the physical truths of our existence, by using the body as a metaphor I am seeking to explore the lines between trauma and beauty. I am interested in examining the underlying substance and structures of life, how things are made, how they are held together, and how they can weaken and fall apart. My work is constructed from recycled materials much of which has been used in the bedroom, particularly on the bed itself. The bed is a place where the body rests and seeks comfort, but also a place of sickness and death. By using resonant materials that are domestic and/or institutional I feel I can piece together a guidebook, of sorts, to help me bridge the gap between my own personal space and the surrounding world. | Barbara Raidl
I am a painter who has fallen in love with screen printing. Like my paintings and drawings, the images on my cards come from what interests me most. For example, I am intrigued by images or object I find on the street. Or sometimes an idea may come from the fact that I just get a kick out of my nieces and nephews, and their suggestions about what I should draw next. My first cards were inspired by teasing my niece, Eliza, about going to camp, and how I was going to write her lots of letters while she was there. Since I teased her for four full days, I decided I couldn’t buy a card—instead I had to make her a card. Many cards later, I’ve become passionate about the whole process of screen-printing: drawing the artwork, inking on mylar, shooting the screens, and most of all printing them. | Bill Bartelt
I roam the city’s neighborhoods in all hours and in all weather, gathering material for my watercolor paintings that capture the spirit of Chicago in all its moods, hidden and overt. I might be found under its bridges, in the shadows of it’s water tanks, or riding its slithery rails, observing the myriad textures and visual enigmas of an evolving metropolis. RAW Location: 4659 N. | Bill Moran
I believe the artist is an important part of a healthy society. Their skills, viewpoint and guidance are an asset to the community, unfortunately the work they do is often overlooked, not adequately supported or misunderstood. So it goes. Born in Cleveland, Ohio. Bill attended Columbus College of Art and Design (BFA,1987). Having an interest in the rich history of Chicago and Midwestern art and artists he moved to Chicago in 1990 to attend Northwestern University (MFA,1992). He currently produces and teaches studio art. He exhibits his work nationally, operates MoranStudios and has been on the faculty of several colleges and art centers. As a local artist he participated in the first Ravenswood ArtWalk. He has served on the RAW Board of Directors since 2008 and is currently President. | Broad Street
Broad Street is a collection of one of a kind jewelry, created out of disguared vintage findings. Old brooches, clip earrings, tie clips and chains are stripped of their original hardware, drilled and wired into assemblage pieces of statement jewelry. Other elements, such as quartz crystals, leather findings and flowers cast in resin are woven into the assemblages, providing a mixed media, sculptural appeal to Broad Street jewelry.
