| American Indian CenterLocated in the historic Uptown neighborhood, the American Indian Center on Wilson Avenue is the oldest urban Indian Center in the US and represents many tribal Nations. The AIC created a strong presence in the early Uptown area with its multi-tribal arts & crafts programming, community-based powwows and gatherings, cultural presentations and art exhibitions. As part of RAW 2011, the AIC presents “Collective Energy: Diverse Visions” – a group show of new work by artists from Ho Chunk, Apache, Ojibwe, Dine, Navajo, Dakota, Menominee, Metis and Cree Nations and community members. Enjoy contemporary art grounded in Native tradition – painting, drawing, traditional doll-making, photography, jewelry, beadwork, collage – an exciting array of creativity ! Artists will be on site.
