Thanks to the many of you who have inquired recently about the status of this year’s Ravenswood ArtWalk. We knew this was a special event, but the level of concern shown from our artist community and our neighbors has been moving. We’re especially thankful to those that reached out with offers of assistance or words of support for the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce’s staff (the festival’s organizers).
Currently, the City of Chicago has cancelled all festivals through Labor Day weekend. Additionally, the Restore Illinois public health plan does now allow for festivals to resume until we reach Phase V, requiring a “vaccine, effective and widely available treatment, or the elimination of new cases over a sustained period of time through herd immunity or other factors.”
Faced with those realities, as well as the significant hit our organization has sustained this year due to the pandemic, we’re disappointed to share we will not be hosting the Ravenswood ArtWalk: Tour of Arts & Industry in 2020.
While at this time we can’t commit to plans, we are still exploring options for a virtual festival or celebration, focused on the studios, galleries, manufacturers and makers of the Ravenswood Industrial Corridor. If you’re an artist or manufacturer with a physical space in the Corridor and would like to participate in a virtual event, please contact email@example.com.
We look forward to inviting the city back to Ravenswood for ArtWalk once it’s safe to do so. In the meantime, please continue to support small businesses, artists, makers and manufactures. Shop local, buy art, take a class (in-person or online!), and please, please please please, wear a mask.
